The pick this week
Ferro & Legno has run the same €10-off-€60 code for four years, and for four years it refused to combine with reduced stock, like almost every code in the sector. Somebody at the shop changed their mind in August. The exclusion clause is gone from the conditions page, and when we walked a basket of clearance garden tools to the checkout this week the code came off the total without complaint. Two other home-and-garden codes on the index discount more on paper and both exclude clearance, which in practice makes them worth less at the end of the month, when the clearance shelf is fullest. That is the whole reason for the pick, and it is not a dramatic reason. Most weeks are not.
What changed since last Monday
Casa Ferrara raised its kitchenware voucher from 10% to 15% and lowered the minimum from €60 to €45, which is the first improvement we have logged from that shop in two years. Ponte Aereo extended the clock on its €30 flight credit from thirty days to sixty, counted from the day it is issued rather than from the first booking. Consegna Rapida dropped the €20 minimum from its free-delivery code, so it now works on a single lunch order.
In the other direction: Forno Mattei takes the bakery counter out of its 20% welcome code on 1 October, Atelier Reno capped its full-price code at three orders per household, and Elettronica Toschi stops applying its €25 to televisions and monitors next month. BitRete's "half price for three months" turns out to cover the monthly fee only — the €29 activation charge is billed in full on the first invoice, which is a €29 difference between the banner and the contract.
Last days
Treno Adriatico's family-rate voucher has to be booked by 30 September, though travel after that date is still covered. The Dispensa Emilia first-order code lapses on 30 September whether or not it has been used. Elettronica Toschi doubles loyalty points on full-price stock until 21 September, with the bonus posting on the October statement rather than at the till.
From the inbox
A reader in Modena asked why a code from our index worked at the Bologna counter when the one in her email did not. The answer is dull and useful: the shop runs two promotions at once, the counter till only recognises the in-store one, and the two have different minimums. We have written the in-store version into the index and marked which promotion each row belongs to.
